Canadian Independent Bookstore Day

Fun and games at Brome Lake Books!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Brome Lake Books on Saturday, April 30, 2022, and helped us celebrate Canadian Independent Bookstore Day (CIBD). We were one of more than 120 participating shops across Canada, that took part in this annual cultural celebration; an opportunity for book buyers, authors, illustrators, and publishers to acknowledge the vibrant literary ecosystem created by our “indie” bookshops. And what fun we had!

In the morning we were joined by local author, publisher Angela Leuck, who brought along fellow authors Bernice Angeline Sorge, Phyllis Sise and Carole Martignacco for a mini Haiku event! For more about Angela and her publishing company, visit Shoreline Press at:  https://www.shorelinepress.ca/index.html

In the afternoon Brome Lake Books will be hosted local author Amy Tector for the launch of her new book Honeybee Emeralds:

A trio of unlikely friends dive into the research of a mysterious jewel and go from the stunning and historic Richelieu Library, to a creepy disused theatre in a bad part of town; from high-end jewellers near Place Vendome to the idyllic home of a Loire Valley winemaker; the Fellowship encounters fascinating characters in their search for the truth.

And even though this particular event has concluded, remember we are always here for you! Indie booksellers are experts in their field, passionate about facilitating connections between reader and writer and creating genuine, lasting relationships with their customers. The shops function as pillars of the community – inclusive spaces for conversation and hubs for events promoting enlightenment and entertainment. The indies are also vital to our national literary ecosystem, championing Canadian authors and illustrators from all genres and promoting writers who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, and LGBTQ2S+.

We look forward to welcoming you at Brome Lake Books... happy reading everyone!
